I was cleaning off my desk and came across this piece of
quartz with layers of Ilmenite from Coopers Ridge, Chatham Co.
There are some crystal faces on this piece and I thought the
striations on a couple of the faces were nicely defined.
It also looks fairly obvious that these striations are left from
a layer of Ilmenite that is no longer there.

The first pic is of the whole piece, just over an inch long.
Second pic is a close-up of the layers and then a couple of
pics of the striations.
The last pic is of an area of the Blue Quartz that I am
looking for. I believe the blue is caused by the Ilmenite.
