Well this is an example of where the cold, hard facts killed the mystery. I forgot about the actual process of taking the picture and was focused on the pure properties of quartz, instead. I call them pure properties, because I am referring to the actual physical properties, not referring to metaphysical or assigned or designated properties. I thought maybe there was something internal capturing and directing the light. Like a channel....

hey! take a pic of crystal with an water bubble! i wonder what the water would look like....

The only specimens I have with water bubbles in them are amethyst, but the bubbles are pretty deep inside the crystal and also obscured by the purple color as well as veils that are running through the quartz.  It is an intresting idea though.  I will see what I can do.

Owned and photographed by John Frazier.

John said,

"This is one of my all time favorites from another Randolph Co. location.
Almost every crystal is a double termination.  Some have inclusions."

Clusters owned and photographed by John Frazier.

The last two pictures are the bottom and top of the same cluster.  Nice feldspar crystals there!

More John Frazier specimens and photographs.  The first two - 5 inch cluster.  The last two are a scepter with a strange tube inclusion!  Shocked

Thanx RR, I'm still trying to narrow in on a signature background.   Undecided
I usually end up with something less than desirable.

This is a close up of the lower left portion of the crystal shown in the first post of this thread.
The crystal shown is 3 x 2 cm

The post from Raleigh Rockhound about the limonite pseudomorphs should be moved to Richmond County.  The site is near Rockingham.

--Thanks Laurie, I moved it to Richmond Co.

Anyone seen any clusters that were dug near the zoo? I have heard of them but have never seen any? I would like to see a pic if anyone has any to show. Smiley

P.S. Gray's Chapel has some fantastic quartz. Some of the highest quality that I have seen come from this state.
