yes I was digging there at gray's chapel when we really found some nice specimens many have been sold and did sell one for a large amount, some of the clearest u ever see, the dirt dumps have nothing in them, large pockets were cleaned out by the Greensboro club members, in the mine cut you may have to did down 15 feet to get into them today may have left a few for shaun to find. Nice to know about the radiating pyrophyllite, BW, and Welcome to the board. Smiley

Now, let me pick your brain since you were doing this rockhounding thing
back when I was still picking up arrowheads. Wink
You think the pockets at Grays are in the bottom of the mine cut and
not so much in the walls?
What about the back wall? Seems to be a lot of good looking massive quartz back there?
Sure wish you had video cameras on your phone back then! Grin

Joe

I've had this piece in my collection for a while. Got it about 5 years ago from someone. I know it's from Randolph Co. NC but the exact location is unknown. I wish I knew where it came from Undecided

Wow, giant crystal.  That would have been fun digging that pocket!

I know! I hope to find something like this someday.   I found one recently about this size but it was broken. the point was missing.  It was a surface find though

That location has the clearest crystals I've seen in the state.
