Thanks to Joe's crafty satellite surveillance scouting strategy, a patch of exposed dirt lured him to this spot.  We indeed found crystals here.  But they were probably the most weathered looking crystals we had ever found.

A candle burning in the background created the false sunset/sunrise over the crystal.   Wink

Found this south of Greensboro today. It was laying right on top in an old roadbed. It's kind of redish in color (I'm assuming some sort of iron staining maybe?).  Half of it is covered in this frosty looking opaque coating. The other half you can see into the crystal. It's about 2 1/2 inches long.

Thanks! I was pretty surprised to find it. Everything else I've found while digging at this spot has been relatively small so far, so this was a nice surprise sitting right on top!

A few ammy's from a day out in Guilford County with Laurie this past weekend.  Still need to clean some of them up.  These are both thumbnail box size

Very pretty, Collin. Nice finds and thanks for the pics.
Nice thing about amethyst is it doesn't matter how big or small they are,
they're always nice to find! Wink
