Scott here is an incredible Pallasite owned my Marvin Kilgore.  I have met Marvin in Tucson on serval occasions and have a couple of his books.  He currently is in charge of the meteorite collection at the University of AZ. Smiley

Awesome picture of the sun going through it.  It's my favorite type of meteorite -- along with most other people I'm sure.  Just curious if you know the estimate price tag on that one before Marvin bought it. --unless of course he found it himself or traded for it.

Wow! That is incredible! I had to look that stuff up and it is now my favorite kind of meteorite.

Shouldn't that piece be really heavy? That is just a cool pic with loads of character (the rock and the guy). Thanks for showing.

Scott the meteorite was found by three guys that liked to go hiking in the desert in China.  They would stop and sit on this strange rock on their hiking trail.  One decided to try to get it to their home.  It took several months to move the rock.  The main mass weighted over 900 kilos. They did not know it was a meteorite to begin with.  Marvin travels all over the world as a major meteorite dealer.  He bought the main mass.  I have seen it in person.  It really is awesome.

I am sure the slice weigth is several kilos.  It would be cut as thin as possible. It is three feet long. Cheesy

Rebecca glad you liked the pic of the pallisite.  They  Smileycontain the only gem from space unless you count the micro diamonds in some meteorites.

Pic is another pallisite for you to enjoy.  Glorieta Mtn from New Mexico
