Those are beautiful, John!
Never seen anything like them. Thanks for the pic.

I was looking at some shiny jet black garnets from Mexico
at a friends house earlier today. I would've never guessed
they were garnets. They had a crystal form much more
like Fluorite. Are you familiar with them?

Yes, you see the shiny black garnets from Mexico.  There are also some black garnets that come from the Spruce Pine area. Smiley

Thanks for the info about the black garnets, John.
I will keep an eye out for some from the Spruce Pine area.
Besides for the red and rusty ones we see around here Roll Eyes I
have never really studied Garnets. Any unusual type I have
a hard time even identifying.

The color and clarity of these you've posted from Quebec,
besides for being beautiful, I would say qualify for
interesting and extraordinary!
Thanks for the pics,
Joe

I have always loved the crystal shape of garnets.  My favorite of course are the green ones.  Nice pictures John!
