Hello All,
I am new to the forum but pleased to find folks with interests similar to mine.

Since I was a child I have been interested in rock collecting.  What got me started was a small quartz vein in the side of a bank of a ditch that produced several clear elongated crystals and one softball sized clear chunk.  I think my brother has it or it was carried away by one of the neighbor kids because it stayed outside in the yard.  This was off the trail we used to use to get to school and back.  Now it is in a small patch of woods that's fenced in in a housing development.

I have be prospecting for gold in my later years and the two hobbies are very compatable.

Thanks for logging in and saying Hi, NC Grampa. Smiley

Glad you enjoy the site and we look forward to hearing some
of your stories and maybe a pic or two.
I have purposely avoided hunting for that gold stuff. I'm
afraid I'll get the "fever" and that's all I'll want to do. But I
know there are few fellows on here, braver than me, that
will hunt it.
Best of Luck to You,
Glad to have you aboard,
Joe

Yes, gold prospecting and rockhounding are indeed compatible.  I'm sure then that you've been to the Portis gold mine area in Franklin Co.!?  I've managed to find a bit of gold from there.  Welcome to the RHL, hope to see you here a bunch.
