Hollandite Stars

Another acquisition I recently stumbled across is this little
quartz crystal from Madagascar included with starbursts
of Hollandite.
From what I can find out about Hollandite is that it is not
that rare, but this particular starburst form is a little on the
rare side. And included inside a quartz crystal makes it about
perfect to me. I'm going to have to pick up a few more of these
while the getting is good.  Smiley

The crystal is on the milky side so the starburst are a little
hard to see. (And I have dozens of other excuses if you
need another.  Wink)

Great photos, Joe!  I have never seen one of these type inclusions before.  They must be fairly rare.  Madagascar you say.  Some killer material comes out of there almost daily now.  Some Japan Law ammy's are the hot new thing in tuscon right now that hail from there.  Great find and buy, Joe!

I'll have to look at some of the Japan Law ammys, AG!
But I was looking for more info on these Hollandite Stars and
it seems they are quite the rage right now. I saw an article a month or so ago telling about when they were first discovered
and I don't think it was much over ten years ago but couldn't
find that info now.
Anyway, the stars are pretty popular with the crystal feelers
crowd. They might be on to something........
Found this from Exquisitecrystals.com;
"This quartz assists us and reminds us that there are no limits!
We are all stars that have fallen to earth....and sometimes
have forgotten why we came here. (I know I have gotten
hung up on that question from time to time.jm)
This quartz helps us to remember the big picture....... that
the outcome is the correct outcome no matter what it is.
It helps us to remember we are born innocent and that that
innocence is our pure self.  Reach for the stars...........
for they are already here...... they are we."

Going to have to get some more of these! Smiley

Awesome! Who doesn't love little funky stars? They remind of the designs from the 50's. They are very sweet.

Ha ha! Busted! I just have a historical perspective!
Just what I observe in my elder's, listened to stories from family, love of art & architecture & design and old photos. Funny, I had this serious stereotype of that era, until I recently re-read "On the Road" as a conscious adult! The forties and fifties were a lot more Bohemian than I ever would have thought from the old kitchen wallpaper patterns!  Wink
Oh, and the music from the time gave me that impression too (except jazz - that doesn't count because it perpetually transcends time and space).

I was looking at some pics that John sent me a while ago that
he took at this years Tuscon Show. I thought it interesting
how much the inclusions in this crystal, labeled Actinolite and
Rutile "Stars", look like the ones called Hollandite.
Does make you wonder if anyone really knows for sure. Undecided
