Some of my finds after tumbled

I am assuming most of these are quartz or type of agate...Picture 3 if you can tell has a purple hue to it which I found lovely and picture 4 I found in a gravel parking lot..It is black with quartz I think. I find mostly these types of rocks but they are the ones that seem to draw me in.

Pretty assortment of tumbled stones and specimens, RN, thanks.
Looks like you have a good eye and are on the right track
for what to look for. Follow the quartz is always a good thing.
There are many forms of quartz. Did you know agate is another
form of quartz? Wink
I like the green tumbled stones. Do you find much of that?
The specimen pics show you know what to look for.
The little vug with crystals is a good sign.
The last specimen piece is pretty cool. It looks like it is
partially "brecciated". I wonder what made the black lines in it??

Thanks for the pics and Happy Hunting, Smiley
Joe

Thank you very much..The agate has become a favorite of mine...I think most I have are agate of different colors from translucent to black...Being quartz might be why I like it so much lol...The green rocks I find beside the Elk River here in Poga, TN...as well as the huge rock With the black lines...I did break a piece off of it and the black is very shiny metallic but not magnetic I found it near another branch of the river wedged under a tree root...I have a few smaller pieces of it but the one shown is nearly a foot long...the vug? I am assuming the black rock with crystal type I found in Elizabethton at a car lot lol it was the only black rock there.

I would not call yours a quartz monzonite as yours does not show any feldspar.  Although there are areas on yours that have a pinkish or redish color it is the result of iron staining.  Your rock looks to be almost entirely quartz.  The black between the cracks is either probably ilmenite, hematite, or manganese.  Ilmenite or hematite would be my choice since you say its a metallic luster.  Although ilmenite is slightly magnetic you will not be able to move a compass needle with it unless you have a considerable chunk of it.  Getting a streak of the mineral on a white ceramic tile may help.

The black part streaks blackish-brown while the sorta white looking part  is colorless I guess since I do not see a streak.

The picture with 4 pieces are corundum. I know they are very hard and I've been warned not to tumble them with other stuff. Couple nice pieces there too. Where did you find the corundum?
