Greetings! I will need some time to learn the ins and outs of this site. I was wondering about banded iron ( tacomite )? I recently found an amazing specimen and If I can learn how to post my pics I will share it. Thanks

I don't believe that  is taconite, taconite is a very hard iron mineral that is mined using a plasma torch to produce 1/2 to 3/4 inch sheres of nearly pure iron . Your specimen is red jasper with green jasper veins. It is probably from an iron deposit,  but it's likely a soft iron like Goethite ,an iron oxide.
