Dan,
They are not from Douglas Lake, they are from a farm in Hamblen county.
I do explore Douglas alot in the winter, and find many nice specimins.
Having found a very interesting location with some nice points, axe head and grind stones,I intend to explore this area thoroughly.I am hoping to find something significant and post pictures
I know that Joe or one ofthe experts will be able to give me helpful information.

They are from the same formation as Douglas Lake crystals are, and look just alike. However, in Hamblen county, you might find zinc. Which I have always wondered if there would be sphalerite crystals in that area or even starting in North Knoxville, up through Mascot  - following a trend N -S. I have yet to locate any, but have never gone to these huge quarries that dominate that side of the Holston River.

Are you surface collecting these? Neat formations.

You don't know how excited I got when I thought there was something different in the mix around here. What a tease!
Limestone feels so barren at this point. It is like we live in a geological skeleton...a boneyard, a mineral wasteland.
The only thing we have are incredible mountains, foothills, coves, mysterious hollers, majestic trees, fantastical flowers, valleys, streams, and rivers - which my soul is entangled in, so I will just travel for the pretty rocks, for now.

Hoping for feedback on quality, and for potential ideas to make jewelry from these many specimans.
    See ya'll at the Reel
