Here's a link John Frazier shared with me with videos showing footage of the meteor as it fell as well as the damage it caused.  Very cool!

The reports I have heard so far is that only a smattering of small fragments have been recovered and these fragments have yet to be determined whether or not they came from the recent Chelyabinsk fall.  The fall is still recent, so there will no doubt be more pieces recovered and verified.

This is the greatest meteorite fall in recorded history.  There will be several thousand pounds of this material on the market.  So far the good stuff is running $50 to $30 per gram.  Google videos of the meteorite fall.  Watch people get hit, garage doors blown off their hinges and building taken down and hundreds of folks sent to the hospital.  Very exciting that we have so much video of this fall. Meteorite has been classified as a LL5.  Very quick classification. Smiley

Finally got my first meteorite from this fall today (04/22).  Prices continue to jump around now from $10 to $100 per gram depending on the quality and size of the meteorite. Smiley Smiley

There was a guy at the Tarheel show that had a meteorite display, he's a professor at Duke. He had a pretty good handful of nice ones from it.

Here is a pic of one cut and you can see the impact melt veins in the meteorite. This one is 4.48 grams and is half of a complete meteorite. Smiley

Very cool.  It's neat to realize that this piece is something that was accompanying that big fireball in the sky that was captured in so many videos.

P.S.  Where do you get one of those 1cm scale cubes, I think it would be useful in many of my photographs.

Several meteorite dealers have them for sale and probably you would find one on ebay. Glad you liked the pic. Smiley
