Ohio has long been regognized as an excellent provider of Celestite Specimens from the numerous quarries flanking the Findlay Arc; a Geologic structure traversing the northwest and west central portions of the state. Collecting can be done in these quarries through fieldtrips with several Ohio Gem and Mineral clubs provided their members maintain proper OSHA open mine and Quarry site specific training. Although no Collecting is allowed, a world class example of Celestite crystals may be visited at the Heinemanns Winery @ Put in Bay, Ohio on Middle Bass Island. A large Vug/Geode within the Bass island limestone is located approximately 40' below the winery and may be entered for a modest fee. The vug/geode is large enough to accomadate 8 to 10 people and individual crystals as large as major metropolitan phone books can be seen. The wines not to bad either
