Finally found my way over here! I have been a mineral collector since I was 11 years old (and that was a LONG time ago!). Love field collecting, especially in Piedmont & Blue Ridge areas of NC/SC/GA/VA. One of my collecting specialties is minerals from the Spruce Pine District, where my brother and I began as kids (back in the day, when one could actually get into working mines). Since I am a mineral collector "trapped" in Florida, I also collect local agatized corals, and what few minerals are available in my home state...

Welcome, Gary. I visit relatives and do the tourist things in central Florida at least once a year. I can't convince my wife to wade or kayak the Peace River for fossils. (Some silly thing about Florida, water, and alligators.) If you are into fossils as well as rocks, we might team up sometime.  Today we wrap up a visit and start the drive back to Virginia, so it will be a while before I'm back in the state.

I love it. Rockhound "trapped" in Florida.

There are a couple folks on the board with similar interests and background.
There's nothing wrong with that agatized coral!
