Tennessee- Paint Rock Agate

Print Post
Need we say more?
Paint Rock is one of the more famous and popular agates found east of the Mississippi.
If you would like to read more about it here is a link;
http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/rockhounds/conversations/topics/2410

Just finished cutting this piece and thought you might like to see it.
The slabs are approximately 8" long and 6" wide.

First the two fitting surfaces.
The second pic is a close-up of an interesting "cherry cluster" formation
at the bottom of the slab on the right.

And then Sides B,
which would be the outer edges of the nodule.

A couple more Paint Rock slabs from this past weekend.
I have 200 lbs of this rock for sale at $ 12.00 per lb.,
if I don't slab it all myself first. Wink

The vibrant yellow and red contrast make that stuff really pop.  I may have to go get some from you before it's all gone!   Cheesy

Here's a nodule that is too fractured to cut up so I ground it down like it was.
Just gorgeous fantastic reds in this piece! Smiley

ooo la la! AND it is a heart!  Grin
I would love to see some pics of the outside ...the crust/rind..the outside of the nodule.
Do you know in what county your nodule was found? Or any of the other TN paint rock you have?
Thanks for sharing

Not sure about the county or counties, Rebecca. The host rock on this piece is a sandy to argillaceous limestone. Fairly soft or at least it wears down easy. Last pic is the cut bottom.
