Rewired the motor and greased the arbor bearings. Made a plexiglass cover to replace the missing wiring box cover. I think this one is not a true lapidary arbor but a tool sharpening rig. The stones are too close to center to allow a water drip hood and pan like those to the left. I shaped a scrap of moonstone anyway just to start getting the sense of grinding flat or rounded. Next,
will rewire another motor and set up one of the true lapidary arbors. One has medium and fine stones. Other has drums that I suppose need sanding belts.

I have plenty of plexiglas left from when we first "glazed" our sun room. Maybe I'll custom fit some splash pans and hoods for the narrow arbor.

Very nice work.  Plexiglass is almost as useful as ducktape!

Yep. And while drilling the holes it only took two shattered plates before I remembered I have a specialty bit!

The plexiglass drill bit has a narrow angle point and a smooth spiral to width. The sharp transition on regular twist bits catches and breaks the plastic.
