Saganite Agate

Print Post
I slabbed a couple pieces of nice "saganitic" agate recently
and thought it was nice enough to share.
The needle-like formations are what is referred to as saganite in agate like this.
There are areas in this agate that could be called "mossy"
and even "plumes" as well.
First pic is one slab, then a close-up of the same.
Third pic is another slab.

Here's another slab, followed by a close-up.
Then a couple of close-up shots of another piece of saganite agate.
I would guess this agate comes from the New Mexico/Arizona area.

The silver silica coating botryoidally incasing the vugs in this piece are really cool.
I would like to look at these closer.

Cool!  It's almost like fish or frog eggs or something.

I had to play around with it.
I know the pics could be a lot better but you got to start somewhere. Wink
The silica "balls" have broken open in the last two pics.

That's really cool.  Looks like they have chlorite freckles.

Thanks, B. I was getting a little carried away there. Wink
Yeah, those last close ups were taken with the dinolite and
all those "chlorite(?) freckles" have been "digitized"
and are now rectangular shapes.

Interesting combination of "winter" (pink, grey) and "autumn" (brown, yellow) colors in one piece.
