Tumbled Fluorite in Granite Matrix

At the Gardner Quarry trip last October, I picked up several rounded pieces of granite with bands of fluorite in them.  I decided to run them through a vibratory tumbler to smooth down the rough spots and see if they would take a polish.  Just finished with them recently.  The rough edges are gone but they took only a low polish -- not the brilliant polish that agates take.  Anyway, here are the results.

With all the different hardnesses that's a pretty tricky undertaking.
They look pretty good to me!
Good job! Thanks for the pics. Smiley

Very nice work and photographs Victor.  If I didn't already know it was fluorite I would have thought it was amethyst veins in there.  Regardless it's still a very pretty rock.  You could make some cool book ends or other display pieces with those finds.  Thanks for sharing.

Might try the last step in the link above, dry aluminum oxide and corn cobs.
