New Years Day at the Burgin 2015

Another beautiful day at the Burgin.  A small group of us tried our luck the first day of 2015.  It has been quite a while since we last visited here, so I'm glad RaleighRockHound set this one up for us.

I began by clearing a patch of ground nearest the main outcrop to try to get a better perspective on what was going on.

Mark and Drew explored outcrop where it meets with the landscape.

Gerald explored closer to the heart of the exposed outcrop.  Many fine pockets have been discovered there.

Sad news to report about Jack.  Mr. Burgin told us that he had found some of his livestock killed, and by their injuries put Jack as prime suspect.  We didn't ask what happened to Jack but for sure Jack was no longer there.  We did, however, have the pleasure of being introduced to some new friends.

I especially liked pirate pig in the last picture.

I didn't find any great signs where I began so I decided to move to another area.  About an hour of cleaning off the over burden and I finally made it down to the in situ quartz outcrop.  Finally at the very end of the day I found one tiny pocket the size of a tennis ball with a few crystals in it.  RaleighRockHound found some very nice crystals where he was working.  Definitely not my best day, but I had a great time as usual.

Thanks for the report.
Sorry to hear about Jack but it looks like it was a great
New Years Day of digging. Smiley
