Any ideas?  I'll have to see the piece in person before I throw a guess out there. ok just incase it's topaz; I said it first.

Is this the piece that I thought connected to the one that I found?  Nice pics!

Sweet!  Cheesy

I'm very interested to find out what it is and if the other chuck has the same mystery mineral on it.

I wonder if it could be Phenakite?
How did you happen to notice it?

How big is it compared to the rest of the piece?   I just checked mine on the loupe and didn't see anything.

Put a tiny drop of acid with a pinhead onto one of the areas that doesn't have good crystals and see if it fizzes.  That would eliminate several possibilities.

Well, after closely looking again at the piece that I have.  Still couldn't see anything resembling what you found on your's Scott.  I don't think I cleaned mine as well either.

On the other side, it does appear that something else is present.  Maybe Feldspar or Calcite?

The size of this piece is about 1.5" x 1" x 1"

I know these pictures are not very good, I used my cell phone with the Loupe behind it.

The crystal in question is less than 1 mm, its very tiny, and also the reason I hadn't noticed it before.  I only spotted it because I was looking closely at macro pictures I had taken of it in the past.  So I got the specimen back out and photographed it again with my focus on the mystery crystal.

It does look a lot like topaz, doesn't it. Need to take another look into that one,

so I thought I'd knock it back up and post some pics of an incredible little cluster that's been sitting in a tray
of small pieces and broken pieces that needed to be soaked in acid again and I just got around to it.
This one piece made it worth it.
First 4 pics are one side, the next are different angles of the other.
I know  the last 3 pics are terribly out of focus but just wanted to give you an idea of what it looks like.
There's some sort of thin angular sheet-like growth around the phantom in those last 3 pics I was trying to get.
Going to have to trry something else. Wink
No end to the mysteries found at Coopers Ridge.
