Since we were out of the GQ quarry so early, noon,
and I was all ready half way to the coast I decided to head on down to Wilmington and look around some more.
I know these two young ladies down there that love to hunt for rocks,
but they seldom do it unless I'm there to blaze the trail.
Sure they'll go out and walk along the beach for shells and sharks teeth and sea glass and stuff
by themselves, but not in the woods.
Seems a bear was spotted some years back about 40 miles from there
and they "think" they can run faster than the old man can.
Anyway, they are putting in a new public dock right on the river I spotted last time I was down there
and kindof wanted to get back and take a look.
There was a dwelling there at one time. We found lots of broken ceramic sherds
most dating between 1650AD and 1800AD. From the amount of broken brick
it was probably a wooden structure with one large fireplace.
We did find a few pieces of prehistoric ceramics and look what we found sticking out
of one of the graded profiles!
Next time we're going to find a gold coin!
