Straight from "The Quartz Page" website: "The crystals are often labeled as "high quartz" or "β-quartz", because they resemble crystals that initially formed as the high-temperature polymorph beta-quartz. After the temperature falls, the outer shape is preserved in the "ordinary" (low-temperature polymorph) quartz."

	Thanks Scott. I went to the link. I think some of these Douglas lake crystals could be beta quartz, then. I think someone told me there could be no m face to be a beta, but the description at the link says it could be "very small".
