Agate Cube 5.5 cm

Thrift store find here in Miami.  I never seen a bigger agate is a cubes state.  Measures 5.5 cm cubed.  Is edged and finished nicely. I placed a dime on top for reference.

I grew up hunt mineral in UP of Michigan.  Never seen an agate this large.  Can anyone ID what type, where from and ballpark value?

Thanks,

Jay P

My guess is Brazilian agate.  In doing a quick search I was seeing Brazilian agate rough sold at around 3 - 5 dollars per pound.

Yes, I agree with Scott, looks more like Brazillian agate than the softer banded calcite
you usually see things like this made out of.
Originally it probably sold for anywhere from $15.00 to $30.00, but if you had to make one
you wouldn't want to charge a penny less than $50.00. There's a lot of work in making "one" of those.
Today it would probably sell for anywhere from $15.00 to $30.00. Wink
Nice find. What'd you pay for it?
