Cooper's Ridge Update
Sep 27th, 2016 at 2:20pm
Print Post
I stopped at Cooper's Ridge in Pittsboro last Sunday, not much has changed since the left side of the road was built with condos.  Still waiting for construction but there are no signs of anything happening soon.

I spent about two hours digging and it seemed like several layers of mud have washed over everything, making it almost impossible to find any veins.

Here is my only find besides chunks of Illmenite.

I actually just drove by there yesterday.  Didn't go all the way up to look, just a glance from 15/501, but didn't look like anything new was happening.  Kinda surprising, I thought for sure they'd have the whole place covered with condos by now...

Thanks for the update Lizzie.  I was thinking about heading out there this weekend but may change plans based on your observation.  It's about an hour drive for me so I hate driving that far to turn back around.

I've been wanting to get out there for the big walk-about for a while now.
Wouldn't mind trying to find some quartz on the west side sometime....soon.

Hey Lizzie, Yeah we took the big walk around, got caught caught in a cold rain. Great fun as always.
There are "signs" that there's more to come from Coopers Ridge. Just got to keep checking it. It's unbelievable that 2017 marks ten years of hunting this spot.
If it weren't for the rain in the forecast I would walk it again tomorrow,
but might have to wait for the Super Bowl. Wink

Happy New Year!

Checked it out again this past weekend with Josh and still no development. We got into a couple veins that were slightly crystallizing but they didn't produce anything shelf worthy. It's frustrating knowing there's killer veins under the ground there but hidden. But with persistence, one day we'll eventually find the next big pocket.  Wink

Thanks for the update Scott.  Yes it does seem like the mud has washed over everything and it has become very hard to find the veins.

Next time yall go out, give me a shout!
