Graves Mountain Jan. 4-5

A crew of 6 we reserved some private time on Graves Mountain.  Staying at Elijah Clark State Park each night of our stay is alway a bonus to the Graves Mountain experience. As luck would have it I was the first to find a stone at Graves Mountain. I awoke with severe pain on my side specifically around my kidney on the morning of the 4th. I was experiencing the pain of a kidney stone as it traveled from my kidney down my ureter, the thin tube that connects the kidney to the bladder.  The only problem is that this one was stuck. Mark was kind enough to sacrifice his digging time to drive me to the ER later  that day where x-rays revealed a 6mm stone stuck in my left ureter. They pumped me with drugs and sent me off with a prescription for more good drugs until I could make an appointment with a urologist back home to take care of that stone. Well a full day lost at Graves for me but it didn't stop me from having the most of my time.  From left to right:  Chris, Dustin, Drew, Dominic.

Hopped up on good prescription drugs I actually did find some time to dig for quartz crystals and search for rutile on the 5th. The bonus 6mm calcite crystal I found in my kidney however unfortunate will forever burn this fantastic trip in my mind.

The stones were surgically removed.  I had a 6mm stone stuck in my left ureter and another bigger stone stuck in my right kidney.  After the surgery any extra bits leftover were allowed to pass on their own although that required that I had two stents put in, one in each ureter.  Since of course there was no incision made anywhere for the entire procedure you can imagine how they had to enter.  Lets just say I've been pretty sore for 2 weeks.  I finally got those nasty stents out today so now I can finally smile.   Grin

Well Thank God this episode has passed!!!
Those stones are painful just to think about! I hope it is a looooong time, or never, before you experience that again.

Back to the thread, that first night shot you posted of the lake is really awesome. Looks like a painting.
