My First Point Find

Hi all --

I looked for an arrowhead my entire life with no luck until I found this point on the ground not 3 feet from my back porch in Cockeysville, MD last Saturday.

Can anybody tell me about it?

Good Morning, Hydro, Long time no see. Glad you're still doing it!

Not really sure how to reply, kind of darned if I do and darned if I don't,
because I'm not "certain" you have found your first Point or not.
From your pic the dark left side looks clean and sharp but the right side looks like a lot of natural breakage. I'd have to suggest you take that to a local artifact collector and see what they say.
And if the material is smoky quartz, that's not too good. You don't see smoky or amethyst used much for projectile points because they are so brittle. They're going to break the first time they are used, so they weren't used much. Kind of like college basketball players these days, One and Done. Wink
Anyway, I hope it is one, I just can't see the workmanship on it well enough from a picture to say.
Let us know what you find out.

Joe
