Sumatran Blue Amber

Really enjoy experimenting with the Indonesian Amber. Each piece is a new mystery.
The variety and variables are endless fun, and the Blue Amber is no exception.
In most pieces the "blue" is a reflection of whatever the light source is. I gather the "proper" way to judge the quality of the blue in this amber is in natural sunlight, but it also has an interesting fluorescent quality.
Incandescent light will show some of the blue, flourescent light won't. But that LED will make 'em pop!

First pic is a cab of regular Indonesian Black Amber.
Then two of the "blue" cabs, 3 pics of each.
First pic fluorescent and incandescent light.
Second pic with LED and Long wave UV.
Third pic Long wave UV only.
Last pic for the fun of it. Smiley

That is killer. Wonder if you could insert a tiny LED behind or into the cab..now that would be interesting! All the kids dancing in the woods would want one.
I am sure they make them small enough. I just wired a dollhouse and the world of miniatures is a serious rabbit hole.

Yes, Wailele, the Dominican Republic is most famous for the blue amber but some of the Indonesian Blue is giving them a run for their money.
There is also real pretty blue amber from Mexico and possibly South America. I don't think there is any found in the Baltic Region.
Of course, the true "blue" test is what it looks like in natural sunlight.
