These are some slabs that you can find along the shores of Philpott Lake in Virginia. I believe they are staurolite in sericite matrix.   Beautiful clear lake for exploring/camping/hiking!!

Baltimore has a site with very hard shiny stauralite , where Rt 83 north bound comes over the hill just before Ruxton Rd. The whole hill side has brite shiny single Crystal's , no twins, it took me a while to figure it out.
