Mounting Minerals on Clear Acrylic Squares

I've seen a variety of photos on the lounge showing minerals mounted in standing position on small, clear acrylic squares. One person I know uses dop wax to hold the mineral upright on the mount. Is that the best choice, or are there other materials being used for this purpose??

Victor,

I use either mineral tack or a glue gun.  If I use the hot glue, I make sure it becomes tacky before setting the specimen in it.  The glue becomes clear once it dries, and is easily removed with water if you ever want to take the specimen off the acrylic stand.
