crabtree mine find--what's this beautiful effect?

This guy is just a regular ol' surface find from the Crabtree Emerald Mine, Spruce Pine, NC (about 1 x 3 inches). It never looked like much until yesterday, when I walked past it, and the sun hit it at just the right angle, showing a bright flash of all this opal-y color effects (meaning, the color looks like it's 'inside' the rock, and changes when you tilt it around in the light).

The first top two pictures were taken with only natural lighting; the rest were front-lit with a regular LED flashlight to show the shiny blue-green color effects (and the 3rd image is a close-close-up). There is barely any mica on it, and in regular light it just looks like that greenish-tinted, somewhat clear smoky quartz-like stuff, embedded in that white quartz matrix so common at the Crabtree.

Any ideas what this is, or what's causing all that wonderful color? Thanks for your help!

I am sure everybody is tired of hearing from me (i would rather be out), but I wanna say it is moonstone...gorgeous moonstone.
The chatoyance affect is from the cleavage planes and something something...equals gorgeousness, or something to that effect.

I agree, it sure looks like the adularescence of moonstone.
And the necessary minerals are present at Crabtree.

On the surface, it does look like smoky quartz, but the coloring is much more green and blue-tinted, and you can see it's transparency under light... not to belabor my question, but here are two more pictures using back/under-lighting that show better the 'insides', as well as the very green color. There is a nice little chunk of schorl on the tip end of the x-axis, and you can see there are bits of solid material inside (included schorl, I imagine).

Last week, I ordered a nice quality rock tumbler; can't wait til it arrives Friday!
