Red, white, and black?

While out checking cows the other day, I came across this guy. It has red, white, clear, and black in it.  The black is very soft and flaked off easily but the rest of the rock is hard and the whole thing is heavy for its size. The black flakes look gold when you have the right light. I'm sure this is a no brainer for you guys.

Looks to be a chunk of red granite. The black flaky parts would be mica.

I agree with daves64.  This is a granite -- mostly feldspar and quartz with smaller amounts of mica and other minerals.

Haha! Thanks. we have lots of granite around here but I had never seen one with that coloring before.
