I have no idea. They were given to me

I was just given two buckets of rocks. Story goes they were found by a geologist who use to work in my building and we left when he left. Today they were given to me (because they know I love rocks. 😉)

I have no idea where to start. I think these may have been collected in NC, but not a guarantee.

After a bit more research, I am pretty sure the first five photos are just some slag glass.

Pic 6 and all the pieces in your second group could be Wake County or NC or VA.
Looks like a mica schist with something, maybe kyanite in it.

Not sure about the white layered rock. What's the hardness/

Second group, first 2 pics, look like a mica schist with garnet, That can be found in a lot of places in NC.

Not sure about Pic 3 but we sometimes call that stuff Squirrely.  Roll Eyes
Pic 4 looks like a mica schist with crystals of Actinolite, Horneblend, or maybe Epidote.
Last piece has an interesting shape and looks like it may have some talc or soapstone in the schist mix.

I guess you could slab some of the glass. Wink
