Altered and modified quartz

I was somewhat afraid to touch this rock when I first found it, I found myself just starring at it and trying to figure out what the "H" did this poor thing go thru. I'm told that this stone and all of the rocks and even the gemstones from that area would be classified as impactites. This rock is an ugly site but when you put it in water, wow!

Without knowledge of this being an "impactite" I would call it a mossy agate.

This poor stone fared much better than many others did, I came across a number of rocks that I called, ghost. Some of them you could pick up and barely press down on them and they would just fall apart. Below are some photos of the ghost rocks, these were inside of a ball of sand and glass about the size of a basketball. Looks like these stones were morphing into glass.
