Living at the coast has its benefits but only fossils to be found.

I just  purchased a Vanquish 540 metal detector. Found some old maps showing farmland roads. Went down one of them and second hole I dug was a 1944 walking liberty. It was about 10” deep in wet sanded wooded area.

New hobby unlocked, I’m hooked! Went out today again and searched other spots, I’ll post the rest of it later.

Hope everyone on the forum is doing well. Miss the old days  Smiley

Yeah, nice find, Collin! From what we can see it looks to be in pretty good shape.
I always wanted to do metal detecting but just couldn't shift gears. Have fun with it! Thanks for the pictures. Happy Easter! Smiley

Wow Collin, nice score! I used to have a metal detector when I was in highschool. I would metal detect around the old fair grounds and find change all over the place. I took it to the beach one day and promptly saw 2 or 3 other gentlemen combing the beach with there super expensive models. After seeing them I quickly put mine away and didn't even try after that. I'd get back into it if I knew of a strewn field where I could go hunt for meteorites!  Wink
