Wildfire smoke

this is what wild fire smoke looks like.
first picture about 2 weeks ago from the Paddock fire.
Second picture was last night and the smoke coming from the Nellie fire.
It's around 20k acres and still going.
The Boise National Forest is what is mostly on fire right now.
go to WatchDuty.org to locate the fires.

That's a first hand look at it. Thanks for the pictures!
The smoke in the first picture looks just plain unhealthy, but the great contrast between the hot smoke and intense cool blue sky in the second is pretty awesome!

Smoke is back tonight and not as pretty as last nights picture.
It's totally blue smoked in you can smell it and taste it. It's burning my eyes and nose. Not good at all.

Wapiti fire exploding last night. Smoke coming in. Just after I took this picture we totally smoked in. Couldn't see a quarter of a mile.
Cold front blew in over night and blew a lot of smoke out.
Haven't heard how bad the fire is doing this morning.
They were evacuating a couple zones last night.
It's not looking good for the Stanley area.

Had a north wind last night and all the smoke was staying to our south.
Will see what today brings. Undecided

We are up in Idaho county and the smoke is real bad up here too! They're burning fields now on top of that, so it's a double whammy. Stay safe out there!

I know they like to burn those fields but it really needs to end.

Smoked in bad all day yesterday and over night. Got up and looking at one of my window sills had ash on it this morning. Not good at all.

Smoke is now the red fresh type can smell it strong.

Lightning storm in late last night.
Fire map is showing a lot of new starts. A lot down in the BLM lands. My old district has a lot.
Anyway we got .23 of precipitation. Which is great! No smoke for a few hours. Grin

We got hit with rain, lightning & thunder last night as well. Haven't checked on any new fires though. 2 firefighter crews checked out of the hotel I work at a day early this morning to go to a new fire in the The Dalles, Oregon.

Yep Oregon and Western Idaho got it again.
Everyone please pray for a Hurricane in the Baja so it'll come up and dump on us. We need moisture and lots of it.

The wild fires are still raging with news popping up every day.
One fire north of our old place was 2,000 acres it took off and went to 60k acres over night.
It just too dry and hot no humidity recovery at night and the fires burn just hot at night as the day time.
We smoked in Monday afternoon and it got thick and ugly it was with us all day yesterday. Did get some wind to blow a little of it out but more just pours in.
Suppose to start getting moisture this afternoon of course there is lightning coming in with it.

We're seeing traces of the smoke here. More in Virginia than here but sometimes you can smell it more than see it.

New fire called the Frog fire blew up yesterday. Could see the fresh smoke coming in over the mountain SW of the house. It's about 40 or so miles away.
The cold front came in yesterday evening and we had terrible winds. Sounds like all the fires got rain of some kind. We got very little rain.
But the wind did blow the smoke out.
Weather peeps forecasting snow tonight 8,000 to 9,000 feet. Feels awful warm yet for that.
What a summer of heat and smoke. Keep thinking the filtered sun didn't help my garden at all.
