M&M Pomona Quarry

The local Tar Heel Club made a fieldtrip to the MartinMarietta
Pomona Quarry in Greensboro, NC Saturday July 23, 2011.
We were looking mainly for some of the massive Calcite that
has been found there in the past. Unfortunately, no
magnificent specimens of anything were found on this trip
but it's always nice to get a good close-up look of more
of the geology of NC.
Here are a few pics from the trip.

Just gravel from the quarry.  The skink was the highlight.   Wink
