I started collecting specimens over a year ago, and just recently got into tumbling. I'm always looking for new pieces to display and agates to tumble. This Feb will be my first trip to the Tuscon Gem and Mineral show. I'm real excited!! I'm glad to be here, and hope to make some great connections. Thanks for having me!

Welcome, it is nice to have someone from Oregon.  I have always wanted to collect on the beaches of Oregon.  I have been attending the Tucson Show since 1984.  You are in for a wonderful experience.  Check out the shows just south of I10.  Should find some interesting things there to tumble.  I am there for two weeks each year.  First week buying and attending as many shows as possible.  Then I work at the club show at the Tucson Convention Center the last week.  I would recommend you get a Tucson Show guide before going to the shows.  That way you can have a plan of attack.  You can never begin to cover everything that will be going on in Tucson.  Each year is always a great adventure.  I know you are going to have a wonderful experience. Cheesy

Those pictures are wonderful. I've saved up 3,300 dollars and I have a huge list of stones I want. I didn't know they had a guide. Where do I find one???? Thanks for the warm welcome! Smiley

Hey, I wanna go walk on the beaches of Oregon and look for rocks, too!  Cool Smiley

Welcome to the board, Pandatron!
I'm definitely not trying to steer you away from our group here
but I want to make sure you know about the
RockTumblingHobby.com board. Mainly because, as the name
implies, tumbling rocks is a main focus of their forum and
I'm sure every question that has ever been asked on the
subject has been asked and answered there. I'm sure it
would be a valuable resource. It's a really huge forum.

Now for Tuscon, I'd stick with John. Wink

Good to hear from you,
Joe

The beaches are tons of fun, and we also have a few rivers which connect to them which have some nice agates as well. If you're ever in the area, just let me know, and I will direct you to the best spots to hunt agates.

Welcome to the RHL Pandatron.  The Tucson show should be one of your best experiences yet considering that you just started a year ago.  That is surely the way to start off the hobby right.  I hope that you could provide a few pictures for us when you get back.  Glad you could join us.

Scott

Google Tucson Show Guide...it is about the size of a phone book.  Maps of Tucson, Shows listed, maps of each show and list of all dealers plus keys to what dealers are selling.  Sounds like you have the funds to have a good time.  Book your motel and flights early. Cheesy
