Dennis My Friend! How good it is to hear from you!
I was thinking about you just today and wondering how you
are doing.
Thanks for the update on your condition and additional pic
you posted on the Bowling Green amethyst thread. Glad you
did that. We need to get more of the amethyst from there
photographed and recorded since the site is essentially gone
now. I've been meaning to get some of my pieces over to
Scott to photograph and had forgotten about it til now.
So thanks for bringing that back to my attention.
And yes, I agree with you about these crystals.
I love 'em!
From what I can tell there is a very fine line between
Actinolite and Edenite, but as you mentioned, it is easy to
find examples of Actinolite in this form but I have not been
able to find any examples of Edenite in this form.
Unfortunately, my shortwave bulb is burnt out, and there
is no fluorescence under the longwave.
The examples I've seen from Pakistan are identical to these
crystals. It's just an interesting circumstance that the man
I got these from swears they were advertised as Edenite
included crystals from Madagascar.
Anyway, as they say, three in the hand is better than
two in the bush! (or something like that.)
I have two pieces prepped for cutting and am looking
forward to getting to that.
We are heading down to the Uwharries this weekend. The
weather is too good to pass on. But hope to see you soon.
We also have a Science Rocks Fair at a local elementary
school we will be doing this coming Thursday if you are
interested in joining us.
