Rock on!

Most people know me from Magma and other clubs but I thought I would at least give myself a general introduction. My name is Shaun and I developed a passion for rocks when I was younger. I was first introduced to it by my grandpa because he gave me arrowheads. Later on I went to Hiddenite with my middle school and loved it. While teaching Earth Science in high school I wanted to learn more about minerals so that I could share it with my class and that is was spawned my addiction that I have today. I have been collecting rocks for past 4 years and have loved/hated every minute of it. Some digs were great while others were just down right depressing. I have collected several times with Joe and Scott and learned a lot about fissures through them. There is one thing about digging, you will always learn something new everytime you go out. Thanks for listening!

Shaun

Welcome Shaun.  Thanks for the introduction.  We are always learning, and will learn something new from every member.  Check out the quizzes that Dennis puts up in the general section about NC minerals and you are guaranteed to learn something new.  Well I know you have some great specimens so I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of them here.

Joe; DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors which is when Mitsubishi and Plymouth joined to make the eclipse, talon, and laser models. I am in love with them and own a 1992 Eclipse GSX. It makes somewhere around 400 hp and should make more after I switch over to ethanol later this year. Speaking of which I am going to a race this weekend that is called the DSM/Evo shootout.

John;  I was an Earth Science teacher but now am a fulltime college professor in Chemistry. Those days are gone but the memories are still with me. I had lots of fun while it lasted.

I will post some pics later and show everyone what real crystals look like from Burgin. Smiley
