Greetings all, I'm Jerry from southeastern Va about 60 miles from the ocean as the crow flies. Always been collecting rocks especially when the family made trips to the mountains. Recently my interest has renewed after a house fire destroyed my home. One of the few things I was able to salvage out of the ashes were some of the rocks and minerals I had collected or bought way back in my grade school years.

This summer I joined a couple of local societies and enjoyed my first organized field trip. Looking forward to making new friends while rockhounding in the field and on the Internet.

Hi Jerry.  Welcome to the RHL.  I am very sorry to hear about your property loss.  I am glad your renewed interest has brought you to the RHL.  Rock collecting has been done since man walked the earth, never failing to bring joy when the nice rocks are found, and they will be found.  This is a great place to dive back in to this awesome hobby and network with other great rock hounds and collectors.

Scott

Welcome Jerry. You might check to see if the Morefield Mine in Amelia County is still open for fall hours. It's always good for a quick fix of rockhounding.
