Lee Creek Mine Threshers

Since my particular specialty is marine fossils I’ll start posting some of my best finds.  Shown below are fossil Thresher Shark teeth from the Lee Creek Mine in Aurora, NC.  These little gems are often overlooked as most folks are looking for the larger teeth in the Lee Creek Spoils such as Makos and the occasional Megalodon.  Notice that the top left one has a hook to it.  I'm not sure this is pathological or just an usual feature for the Thresher Shark.  I've had many fellow collectors offer to trade for it so it must be somewhat rare.  Unfortunately the Lee Creek Mine has been closed to collecting since 2009 and the only new source of spoil material has been at the Aurora Fossil Museum and some rarely searched material at some private locations I occasionally get to visit.  Let me know what y'all think.

I like he hooked piece.
Jack, we could go to LaFarge Quarry in Harleyville, SC or even maybe the Cross quarry.
What do you know about these areas?

Yes, thanks for the good pics, Jack.
Nice tooth there!
Hope to get down east to do some tooth hunting this winter,
but I say that every winter and hardly ever do. Like you
said, and par for the course, places to hunt them are
getting harder to find. Luckily, nice ones can be found in
the tailings the Aurora Museum puts out.

Would love to see more of your collection. Smiley
Happy Hunting,
Joe
