Going thru some old boxes John? I can relate.
Thanks for the pic. Those are some titan titanian andradites!
Love the contrast of the big matrix piece.

Joe glad you like the Andradites. I was working on putting together an exhibit for the Hickory Gem and Mineral Show on members of the garnet group. That was this past weekend. Will attach a pic of the display.

Great looking display/collection, John.
Since you have it all organized already. if you would like to set
it up for display at the upcoming Tar Heel show, I think
I know somebody that could OK it.

Joe I will bring it one year when I am there just for fun. Will be working during the show. Found out in Tucson that we were doing the show this year.

It will be good to see you, John. I couldn't remember if you said
you were going to be working the show or not. Great!

Beautiful! I have to look up andradites, though...are they black garnets? I like them no matter what they are. Is this a site available to hunt presently?
What are the really pretty apricot or peach - colored garnets in the box in the middle. They seem very gorgeous from this distance.
Is this collection all NC stuff?
Thanks for showing.

Andradites can be black as well as other colors. These were collected about 50 years ago and came out of an old collection. They have been in my collection for about 20 years. The riker mount is garnets from Asbestos, Quebec. They are Hessonites. The garnets from Asbestos are incredible. In the dispaly I have some green as well as clear garnets from this location. The garnets are from around the world. Don't believe the collecting site on the black garnets is open.
