Hematite, magnetite, and perhaps some rutile inclusions from the Jones Franklin construction site.

Rutile and schorl tourmaline on the first specimen.
The second specimen has negatives of some previous radiating mineral.
Both of these were found from the same construction site in Raleigh.

Found this crystal just today.  Highly included with some strange features. See if you can spot the hidden hieroglyphic dragon.

Here's the hieroglyphic dragon up close in case you didn't see it above.

Killer pics, Scott! I was hoping you would take some of the one with chlorite bodies hugging the crystal surface.
The close-up is so good it looks more like clinochlore?
Are the first and last pics of the crystals with needles the same crystal?
That is some awesome stuff! What is going on with that "structure" in there?
Need to find more of that!

Yes, the pictures of the crystal with the needles is the same one.  There's some weird stuff going on in there.  I don't think it's rutile and if it was at one time rutile then most of it is no longer there.  Many of the needle inclusions are negatives or what appear to be clay filled or hollow needle shafts. I've only found 3 or 4 different specimens with these needles running through them. As far as the blocky structures, your guess is as good as mine right now.   Shocked

I saw a horse... and a reindeer... but couldn't find the dragon hieroglyph.   Really neat piece.
I really love that last photo with the "blocky structures".  Very cool.
