I will be there at the end of July and am looking for a place to look for rocks. I saw a few pay sites a little farther than I would want to drive out to.

Coming from Virginia over I64.

Greenbriar County is famous for its wonderful cave systems, where of course you can never collect specimens, but no doubt there are limestone quarries in the county.  I don't know if any of these are open to collecting, but as a general rule, carbonate rock quarries tend to have calcite, and many other crystals. Google mineral clubs in the area and see if you can hook up with someone that might steer you in the right direction.  Good luck!.

thanks for that info. I'll check to see what mines I can find in the area. Was hoping to find a creek to find some interesting stones.
