Camera opinions?

I am looking to buy a camera but do not have unlimited funds.  I would like one that takes good close ups and is still able to get a distance picture.  I was looking at SLR's but they get real pricey fast.  Any opinions?

Well I'm biased toward Cannon.  But if you like the way my pictures look, they are all Cannon.  A great camera would be the basic Cannon Rebel DSLR.  It's affordable and will be everything you want plus more.

I got a good deal on a Cannon Powershot sx500.  It was in my price range and is a big step up from my last one.  Looking forward to using it in Maine.

Great, I think you will be very satisfied with the Cannon quality and experience.
