Jones County in eastern NC has pyritized (the massive, non-crystal variety) petrified wood with drusy multi-colored quartz crystals.  There are large chunks of this wood that can be found, but most pieces don't have any drusy crystals.  The iron sulfide preservation makes this pet. wood very hard to break, and requires a sledgehammer.  The outer surface shows some wood pattern, but the internal wood grain is poorly preserved.
Drusy crystals on the surface and in internal pockets include citrine, smoky, and blue.
First photo has a piece on left with drusy citrine, and piece on right with drusy smoky quartz.  Second photo is a close-up of the drusy citrine.
Third photo is a piece with drusy blue crystals as well as botryoidal blue chalcedony.  Fourth photo is the end of a large piece with both drusy blue and smoky crystals.  Fifth photo is the a close-up of blue crystals (with one clear crystal just below center), and last is a close-up of a blue botryoidal area.

Very interesting, Viktor!
Thanks for the pics and information. I've never heard of this site before.
I'd like to take a look at some of this material sometime.

Now if you could just work on re-sizing those pics a bit. Wink

Alright Joe, now that I understand how to resize photos, I'll try posting the smaller photos.  They're in the same order as the original post.
