Pyrite? Included Quartz crystal

This one warrants some better photos. I found this recently in some mine tailings of a known gold mine in NC. The color says pyrite, but i'm surprised not to see any cubic structures in the crystal. It could perhaps be a sulfide mix of gold, pyrite, silver, copper, any or all?? I'm assuming the darker red/brown inclusions to be hematite.

The overall crystal is only 1/4" or so. I've found many other small crystals here, but so far this is the only one like this, a few others with some chlorite inclusions.

I'm sure this occurrence is fairly common but has anyone here seen any NC pyrite inclusions in quartz?

There's pyrite included quartz at burgin, and I have heard reference to pyrite included crystals in stokes county.  I'm sure there are more though, nice looking crystal.

Awesome looking little crystal, dave!
Looks like, as you say, there's alot going on in the mix.
I can't say for sure of any other sites we have found pyrite in quartz, other than the one Raleigh mentioned,
but pretty sure there are others.

Hey guys,

That is a nice crystal you've found.

It's not pyrite included quartz crystal, but this 5 pound chunk could be called pyrite included with quartz or maybe graphite, mica and pyrite with included quartz or quartz with included graphite, mica and pyrite??? Undecided

Comes from Mine Creek - what do you think?

cheers,
r

Yes, Robert, that's the mica schist that runs by your house.
Might even be some kyanite in there.
but if you enlarge daves' picture above you can see a waterfall
of pretty well formed cubes of pyrite included inside the crystal.
And, dave, even tho I have seen included pyrite from other sites,
it wasn't anything like that! That's areal beauty. You need to find some more of those.
Love to see it backlit.

Stop by the place sometime Dave, and I'll take a close up shot.  With minerals I always go with occums razor, the simplest guess is probably the best one.  I would guess pyrite or chalcopyrite.

Here's the old picture I took of the pyrite inside the Burgin crystal.  I found it in the Stanly Co. thread in the NC minerals section.  I'm going to see if I can find it again so I can take a better picture.
