in Southport.
It's a different world down there, but somebody's got to do it. Smiley
If you're hungry I recommend the crab cakes. They're huge!

I can smell the salt marsh and flounder in the deep fryer!  And I'll have that great tune in my head all day.  Smiley

you read my mind Tim. Looks like a great place for flounder to stalk, speckled trout to school, and puppy drum to tail around.....

Shellfish this time, Flounder next time. Smiley
Southport, originally Smithville, and the road to Brunswick Town
is one of my favorite areas on the coast.
Haven't been there in awhile so it was nice to revisit.

Here's a couple of pictures taken from Ft Fischer looking south
across the Cape Fear River inlet toward Southport on the other side.
You can see Battery Buchanan starting at the fort and stretching
all the way across the eastern inlet and connecting to Smith Island, closing the inlet.
Ft. Fischer and Battery Buchanan were the reasons that Wilmington
was the last Confederate supply port to fall on Jan. 15, 1865.
