No, don't worry I'm not trying to smoke it.  But I am curious what this plant is called.  It was growing wild all over this field and it has thorns.

Might be wild rose or blackberry with a virus causing the leaf curling throughout the local population.  I don't know of anything that looks like that normally.

Tim,

I think you are correct.  It could also be made by parasitic wasps, a type of gall growth.  I've seen them before in blackberries.

I think the smokable variety grows in Colorado.
