Hello from Morrisville !( ex KY Geode Hunter)

Hello everyone, finally decided to join after learning so much from these forums. I'm originally from Kentucky and moved to North Carolina just a few years ago. For the longest time I had never known that NC was essentially the promised land for rocks and minerals! I enjoy collecting any type of minerals/fossils, and have been to many rock spots so far including the infamous Crater of Diamonds in Arkansas, (Which will always be known to me as the Crater of Misery and Broken Dreams, I did manage on my 4th trip to find a 0.04 carat Yellow Diamond, but washing the sticky lamproite mud almost broke my spirit  Smiley)

Recently I've been trying my luck at finding interesting rocks in the local area, which led me to this great forum. Below are some cell-phone pics from my latest rock trip in Halifax County. Found some interesting pyrite in the rocks along with some lemon-lime mineral that I have no idea what it could be. As soon as I get a better camera I may post the pics in the mineral identification section. I look forward to hearing about other members rock trips and will be sure to post my own in the future!

Sounds great, kottigite. Glad you found the board.
Those pics came out pretty good, but we'll still need better to help with ID's.
We see that lemon-lime stuff in with the brown and red iron oxides all the time around here
and rarely try to separate it out or distinguish it from the rest. Might be time to take a closer look.
It'll be real interesting to see what you stumble across up there in Halifax.
Best of Luck,
Joe

Hey I am from Halifax County and now live in Greenville North Carolina. I have been uncovering garnets here locally, if you want to go rockhounding sometime let me know.
